The four kids are given a tour of the candy factory to help them learn more about the candy making process and to prepare them for the competition. From the start, Logan is confident about the way around the factory, but feels the urge to prove himself.  Miles is a kid who always carries around a backpack, Daisy is a happy girl who wears bright fun colors, and Philip is very serious and is always taking notes in his notebook. But they are not all as they seem. Each character has their own motive for being there. But as the story goes on, some of their motives change. They unveil secrets about themselves. Finding Orion by John David Anderson

Click for more information on this titleIn the book, Finding Orion, by John David Anderson, it follows the story of Orion Kwirk, who goes by Rion. Rion has a pretty odd family. His dad develops odd flavors of jelly beans which he serves as dinner, his mom works at the local planetarium and named all three of her kids after constellations, his older sister Cassiopeia who goes by Cass is into theater and has a pet snake, and his younger sister Lyra is a walking dictionary. So, when Rion’s grandfather, Papa Kwirk, a Vietnam War veteran, suddenly dies, the Kwirks are taken by surprise and travel back to Greenburg, Illinois to go to his funeral. They stay with Rion’s great aunt, Aunt Gertie who is a collector. Aunt Gertie tells them that his grandfather wanted his funeral or funneral as she calls in, to be fun instead of sad. When they get to the funeral, Rion realizes that most of the townspeople knew his grandfather better than he did. His dad isn’t very fond of the funneral and demands to see his father’s body even though it’s closed casket. But when he opens the casket, he doesn’t see his father’s body, instead he finds a clue. Aunt Gertie explains that written in Papa Kwirks will, it states that he wants his son to go on a scavenger hunt to find his ashes. Rion’s dad isn’t very happy about this and tells his family to start packing up because they are leaving tomorrow morning. But Rion can’t help but feel like he will regret not solving the scavenger hunt. Will they find Papa Kwirks ashes, or will they leave without trying?
